The door left open

Not every possibility needs to become a commitment.

An open door invites movement. It does not require us to walk through it.

In business, the existence of an opportunity can create its own pressure. Once something is possible, declining it begins to feel like losing it. The choice becomes harder to separate from the fear of regret.

But possibility and suitability are different things.

Some opportunities become clearer with time. Others lose their attraction once the first excitement has passed. A few deserve a prompt commitment precisely because waiting would close the door.

The difficult part is recognising which is in front of us. Keeping everything open forever is no answer either. Unmade decisions can occupy a great deal of space.

Still, an available path is not an instruction.

It is a choice, and should remain one until we make it.
